Poster size guide: A sizes, 50 × 70 and custom sizes
A2 or 50 × 70? Standard poster sizes for finding ready-made frames, fitting your wall and preparing your file.
When choosing a poster size, think about three things: the wall it will hang on, the viewing distance and how easy it is to find a ready-made frame.
A sizes
Each A size is exactly half of the previous one and they all share the same proportions. That is why an A3 design can be enlarged to A1 without losing quality.
- A4: 21 × 29.7 cm
- A3: 29.7 × 42 cm
- A2: 42 × 59.4 cm
- A1: 59.4 × 84.1 cm
- A0: 84.1 × 118.9 cm
Frame sizes
In the Turkish ready-made frame market, 30 × 40, 50 × 70 and 70 × 100 cm are the most common sizes. Their proportions differ from the A series, so a design made in an A size is adapted to these frames with a margin or a crop.
Choosing a size for your wall
An image hung above a sofa or console should be about two thirds of the furniture's width. A single large poster creates a calmer effect than many small ones.
